Nicola and Bulana 2nd in CIC*** at Barbury Castle

untitled 8549 1

Nicola, riding James and Jo Lamberts lovely mare Bulana came second in the CIC***at Barbury Castle International Horse Trials. Lying second before the cross-country phase, the mare collected just 2.4 time faults and delighted Nicola by staying rideable around Mark Phillip’s tough and twisty course, with her saying, “I adore this horse, she is such a trier and as soon as you get on her she is switched on and wants to go, go, go. Bulana was incredibly strong at Bramham and although I rode her in the same bit at Barbury, I added a Kineton noseband with my aim across country being able to soften my hands and let her nose out in front of a fence, as usually after the first fence she’s off, but she stayed in a rhythm all the way round and gave me a beautiful ride and I am hugely relieved”.
